Yes Lord

Song Meaning

Jonathan Nelson turns a simple, repeated yes into the whole architecture of this song. The opening verses lay out a threefold surrender — going, doing, saying — each clause answered with the same willing pledge, so that obedience becomes a list the singer keeps adding to rather than a single dramatic moment. The chorus reduces the answer to a string of "yeah"s, almost a chant, which gives the commitment a physical, congregational feel rather than a reflective one. A bridge shifts the language toward Romans 12, presenting the body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable, and asking to be made a vessel while God takes control. The line about nothing being able to separate the singer from a love described as amazing echoes Paul's assurance in Romans 8, and the sudden call for everyone to clap hands pulls the room into the response. The song closes on the title itself, a plain "Yes Lord" that lands as both answer and refrain. It is less a narrative than a posture: readiness stated, restated, and handed over to the congregation to repeat.

Wherever You want me to go, I'll go
Whatever You want me to do, I'll do
Whatever You want me to sa, I'll say
I'll do anything that pleases You

Nothing can seperate me
For your love is so amaizing
I'm willing and ready
For whatever Your request is

My answer is Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
To Your will Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yea
I'll go yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
I'll say yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah

I'm presenting my body
As a living sacrifice to the Lord
Holy and acceptable unto You
Make me your vassel
Have Your way, Take control
And forever I'll follow You

Everybody clap clap clap clap clap your hands up

Yes Lord
