Usikiaye Maombi

The title itself is a divine title in Swahili — "Usikiaye Maombi" means "the One who hears prayer" — taken almost directly from Psalm 65:2: "O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come." The English lines woven through the song ("there is a God in heaven who hears all of our prayers") function as a direct translation rather than a paraphrase of the Swahili. "Tunapoomba anajibu" ("when we pray, He answers") reflects Jeremiah 33:3's invitation — "call to me and I will answer you" — and 1 John 5:14-15's confidence that God hears requests made according to His will. The song has almost no narrative arc; like several short praise choruses, it exists to hold one declaration in place through repetition rather than build toward it.
