Have Faith In Me (Mark 11:23)

Kim Burrell sings “Have Faith In Me (Mark 11:23)” in the voice of God speaking to the listener. It starts as a conditional, “If you only knew the power that I have, exactly what I can do,” and what follows is an appeal more than a lecture: “I'm trying to get through to you / Gotta get you to see.” The title gives the address, “Read it in Mark 11:23,” and the instruction is just as direct, “Say it, without doubt.”

The chorus lifts its phrasing from Scripture's biggest promises of provision, “I can do exceedingly, abundantly / Above all that you ever ask,” and adds “Therefore I say when you pray believe / And you shall receive.” The second verse speaks to what listeners hope for, “you have hopes and dreams... goals that you want to achieve,” with the one condition, “If you take the limits off of me.” A spoken bridge finishes the case, “There's no problem too great that I can't solve.”
