Song Meaning
Marvin Sapp quotes 2 Timothy 1:7 directly as the song's theological center: "the Lord has not given the spirit of fear, but a sound mind." The verse arrives after several verses describing stagnation — "why do you stay there when you've been in this place for far too long" — naming fear as the actual obstacle rather than circumstance itself.
"Don't be afraid to walk through the door that He has for you" keeps the song's instruction concrete rather than vague, an actual door rather than a general call to courage. "There's joy on the other side, there's peace on the other side" promises something specific waiting past the fear, more than only the absence of it.

Why do you stay there
When you've been in this place for far too long
And you've been told to just move on
The longer you wait and sit
The more frustrated you get
Don't be scared to move
Your new level is waiting on you
Don't be afraid
To walk through the door that He has for you
Know that the Lord, He will see you through
Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid
To walk through the door that He has for you
Know that the Lord's made a way for you
Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid
You're tired of the way you're feeling
You've been living life with no meaning
You're in search of the joy you've been dreaming
So if you're ready to soar
Just look towards the door
Start running and waiting no more
Don't be afraid
To walk through the door that He has for you
Know that the Lord, He will see you through
Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid
To walk through the door that He has for you
Know that the Lord's made a way for you
Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid
For the Lord has not given the spirit of fear
But a sound mind (sound mind)
So dust off your shoulders
And wipe those tears
This is your time
Don't be afraid...
There's joy on the other side...
There's peace on the other side...
Don't be afraid
To walk through the door that He has for you
Know that the Lord, He will see you through
Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid
To walk through the door that He has for you
Know that the Lord's made a way for you
Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid...
