Greater

A farewell to the old life drives "Greater." Marvin Sapp sings, "I'm not sorry to say this, but I'm leaving, I'm heading for greatness, more exceeding. To this place in my life I'm waving bye-bye. I'm pressing on, I'm moving on." That is the posture of Philippians 3:14, and the "new thing" language of Isaiah 43:19 stands behind it.

The hook states the direction, "I'm moving from great to greater, on a mission to prosper, kingdom blessings and favor." A verse explains why he is bold: "I'll follow boldly where He leads me, He already told me He would keep me, I can't go back to the life." The phrase "kingdom blessings" echoes Matthew 6:33, and "greater" resonates with John 14:12 on greater works.

The later section repeats "He's calling me to greater," which makes the move a response to a call and not just ambition. A spoken moment follows, "it's time for greater, I'm about to keep it moving," and the closing section sings "so long, farewell, I'm moving from great to greater" until the track ends. Other artists' songs called "Greater" are different songs.
