Another Place

Micah Stampley leads “Another Place” as a live worship song of hunger for more of God's presence. The first lines make the request: “We want to go higher, we want to go deeper into You, oh God.” Rather than describing a story, the lyrics are a spoken prayer set to music, and the lead voice builds the moment as the congregation joins in.

The request is repeated in several forms. “Take us to another place, God, take us to another dimension, God, by Your Spirit and Your glory, we want to experience You in a new way.” The song also asks to be taken to “new realms in Your glory.” In the final phrases it shifts from asking to declaring: “We're in another place in Him.” The stored text notes that the lines are repeated throughout the remainder of the song as the lead ad-libs, so most of the recording consists of the leader and choir stretching out these few phrases in extended worship. It is a song for a service where there is time to linger, and the repetition is the point, since the group is waiting for God's presence instead of moving on.

Asking for God's presence to go with them is Exodus 33:15. Being filled with the fullness of God is Ephesians 3:16-19, and seeking to dwell in his house is Psalm 27:4.
