Surrounded / Waymaker

Michael W. Smith spends most of this one repeating two lines until they stop sounding like a lyric and start sounding like a decision already made: "it may look like I'm surrounded, but I'm surrounded by You." The repetition isn't filler — it's the actual strategy the title describes.

The song then folds into Sinach's "Waymaker" without much transition, stacking titles rather than developing one: "Waymaker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, my God, that is who You are." Each name answers a different situation the first half didn't have room to name specifically.

"Even when I can't see it, You're working, even when I can't feel it, You're working" echoes the story of Elisha's servant, whose eyes were opened to see an army of fire surrounding the army that surrounded them — the same "surrounded" from two completely different angles. Isaiah's promise of a way made in the wilderness gives Sinach's title its exact source, and the song's closing turn to simply repeating "Jesus" strips every title back down to one name doing all the actual work.
