Waymaker

Michael W. Smith's recording of this global worship anthem, originally written by Nigerian songwriter Sinach, builds almost entirely around a list of titles rather than argument: "Waymaker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness." The first title reaches directly for Isaiah 43:19's promise, "I am about to do a new thing... I will make a way in the wilderness."

The bridge's repeated claim, "even when I don't see it, You're working... You never stop, You never stop working," answers Lamentations 3:22's assurance that God's compassions "don't fail... they are new every morning" — faithfulness treated as constant and ongoing rather than something that has to be visible to be true. The song never argues for this; it simply states it, then repeats the statement enough times that the repetition itself becomes the argument.
