Smith opens "The Throne" from the farthest possible vantage point — "far above the highest heavens, on a throne of crystal light" — describing worship as something already happening at a scale beyond human participation before inviting anyone to join it. "Human voices blend with the angels" treats congregational singing as joining an existing chorus, not originating one.

"Blessing! Glory! Sing Hallelujah! Shout saints of God alone" stacks short exclamations rather than complete sentences, mimicking the breathless, overwhelmed quality of the vision being described. "Honor! Power! and Dominion!" borrows Revelation's own throne-room vocabulary directly rather than paraphrasing it.

"Lightning flashes and thunder echoes, diamond rainbows fill the sky" keeps the imagery physically vivid rather than abstractly reverent, matching the sensory intensity of the biblical visions it draws from. "Those who trust the great 'I am'" closes the song naming God by His self-given, unadorned name from Exodus, letting the whole elaborate vision rest on the plainest possible statement of who is actually on the throne.
