We Wear His Name

Two scenes of need are the verses of "We Wear His Name." In the first, "a little boy hangs his head and starts to pray, his daddy's gone away to who knows where." He needs "a hand to hold," and "he needs to hear there's hope, he needs someone to tell him that Jesus cares." The line that follows is the reason for the song, "that's why we're here."

The second scene is a man in crisis, "a troubled man, he cries what have I done, I can't lose my wife and son." He needs "someone to share the load, someone to give the love that sets men free, someone like you and me." The call to share burdens fits Galatians 6:2.

The chorus is the answer. "We wear His name, the name above all names," from Philippians 2:9, "in a world that's lost in hopelessness we are called to be the light," close to Matthew 5:16. The bridge asks how believers can "pass them by" when they see those in need, since "we represent the name of Jesus Christ," as in 2 Corinthians 5:20 about being ambassadors for Christ.
