Loved By You
Song Meaning
A river flowing from God's throne into the singer's soul sets the scene in Paul Baloche's "Loved By You," and the opening verse asks that the same flood bring healing and quiet. The request is gentle rather than dramatic: "Speak Your word and quiet me."
The chorus carries the whole conviction in one line, "I was made to be loved by You," repeated until it sounds less like an argument and more like a settled identity. Later verses supply the shelter behind it, asking for mercy and for a hiding place "beneath Your wings," with the closing claim "I am Yours, You are mine."
A turn in the third verse moves from receiving to responding. The singer offers everything, noting that Christ has "given Your life and now I'm alive," and commits to worship "forevermore." Scripture echoes include the wings of Psalm 17:8, the river from the throne in Revelation 22:1, and the grace-made-alive language of Ephesians 2:4-5.
River flow from Your throne
From Your heart through my soul
Healing flood, God of peace
Speak Your word and quiet me
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
Mercy way down on me
Hide me now beneath Your wings
Hold me close to your side
I am Yours, You are mine
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
Open up wide, go under my eyes
Take all I have and make it Yours
You've given Your life and now I'm alive
To worship You now, forever more
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You, to be loved by You, Jesus
Jesus, mmm
