Reliant

Paul Baloche's "Reliant" builds its confession out of two images Jesus uses for himself in John's Gospel: bread that sustains and a vine that holds everything together. The verses stay simple and personal — the singer names need, then names who meets it, repeating the assurance that the Lord takes care of him. A recurring question cuts through the song: where else could I go, what else can I turn to? It's the same question Peter asks when other followers walk away, and here it becomes a refrain of settled loyalty rather than doubt. The chorus lands on a single word — reliant — and refuses to dress it up, insisting nothing else will do. Later the song widens its view, addressing the God who formed the world and the God of all creation, then returns to the plainest possible language: I trust You, I depend on You, I rely on You. The repetitions aren't filler; they're the sound of someone talking themselves deeper into a trust they already hold. The song closes where it began, with provider and reliance held together in the same breath.
