Psalm 100 (Enter In)

Charity Gayle, Joshua Sherman, and Steven Musso don't reinterpret Psalm 100 so much as sing it directly: "shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth, come worshipping before the throne of God... for the Lord is good and His love endures forever." Psalm 100:2 gives the same instruction almost word for word — "serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!"

The hook narrows that broad call into a specific action: "so we enter in, into His gates, bringing words of praise and offerings of thanksgiving." That's Psalm 100:4 set to melody — "enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!" The song doesn't add commentary to the psalm's instructions; it just follows them, moving from the shout of verse one to the gate of verse four in the same order the psalm does.

The bridge breaks from the psalm's language only to pile up description — "omnipotent, amazing... magnificent, breathtaking" — before returning to the same repeated line the whole song keeps circling back to. There's no bridge to a new idea because the song was never trying to build an argument. It's an ancient instruction for worship, given a melody and repeated until the instruction becomes the response.
