Think Twice

Petra's “Think Twice” is tagged with 2 Timothy 2:22, the instruction to flee youthful desires, and the song puts the listener in the moment before a bad decision. The first verse is about rationalizing, with lines like “You could make a choice when nobody could see” and “Justify the way that you wanted to be.” Nobody is accusing at that point. The narrator describes the quiet internal conversation that happens first.

The hook interrupts it twice with “Wait just a minute,” then asks “Hey, did you ever think twice?” and says what the inner voice is saying: “Something inside says stay away.” The second verse swaps wanting to see for wanting to try, “a way that would seem so right,” and the warning gets closer to the point, “Face to face with sin / You better think again.” The closing advice is practical, to take “another look for a second time” and decide “where you draw the line.”

The song's escape idea, “when there's still time you can go the other way,” lines up with 1 Corinthians 10:13, which promises a way out of temptation. 2 Timothy 2:22 supplies the central call to run from what pulls you away and pursue what is right.
