Send Me

PlanetShakers' “Send Me” is a call to mission and national repentance. It opens with a pledge, “Send me, I will go,” and widens from the city to the nation and to the nations of the world. The singer promises to proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The verse turns to prayer. She stands before God pleading from the heart that his Spirit would set her apart, to bring good news and liberty. The words ask for the whole country to be on its knees, for every family to be remembered, for blind eyes to be opened and for people to be set free. The prayer then moves to a plea for the nation to turn back to God and see revival sweep the land. The closing lines come almost straight from an ancient promise to Israel: humble ourselves, seek his face, fall on our knees, turn from our ways, and God will hear our cry, wipe our sins away and heal our land. It reads as both a personal answer to the call of God and a corporate prayer, and it is often used in services focused on missions, outreach or national intercession. The simple repeated phrase gives a large group an easy way to commit together to going where they are sent.

The answer of “here am I, send me” is Isaiah 6:8. Humbling ourselves and seeking his face is 2 Chronicles 7:14, and good news to the poor is Isaiah 61:1.
