This is The Day

Song Meaning

Planetshakers quote Psalm 118:24 as the entire opening line: "this is the day You made, I'll rejoice and be glad." The psalm's original context is a celebration after deliverance from real danger, the joy attached to a specific rescue rather than only general gratitude for existing.

"Your mercies are new, Your promise is true" reaches for Lamentations 3:22's claim that God's compassions "are new every morning," a promise written from the middle of Jerusalem's destruction rather than comfortable circumstances. "There's a supernatural praise, rising up in my heart" names the song's own source honestly — not manufactured enthusiasm, but something the lyric frames as coming from outside the singer's own effort.

This is the day You made I'll rejoice and be glad with all that I am
This is the day You made I'll rejoice and be glad in you
This is the day You made and your mercy's are new your promise is true
This is the day You made I'll rejoice and be glad in you

There's a supernatural praise, rising up in my heart, up in my heart
The sound it has to be made oh Lord

So my heart will sing You are good, You are good
And with everything I will praise, I will praise

This is the day You made I'll rejoice and be glad with all that I am
This is the day You made I'll rejoice and be glad in you

There's a supernatural praise, rising up in my heart, up in my heart
The sound it has to be made oh Lord

So my heart will sing You are good, You are good
And with everything I will praise, I will praise
So my heart will sing You are good, You are good
And with everything I will praise, I will praise

This is the day You made
So I will give you praise
What ever comes my way
I rejoice in you
[x4]

So my heart will sing You are good, you are good
And with everything I will praise, I will praise
So my heart will sing You are good, you are good
And with everything I will praise, I will praise
