Strength Of My Life

Gratitude for being rescued carries this Planetshakers song, which borrows its title from Psalm 27:1, "the Lord is the strength of my life." It begins with "You set my heart ablaze with Your Holy fire, and now I stand amazed by Your love and favour," and the verse leaves no doubt about the source of the change.

The pre-chorus is the most personal moment. "I don't know where I will be, I don't know what I would do now, if Your love hadn't saved me" admits how much depends on grace, in the manner of Ephesians 2:4-5, and the answer is a simple statement of thanks, "I'm eternally grateful."

The chorus lifts the voice: "Great are You, Lord, over all, we will declare, Lord, You are faithful," a line much like Psalm 48:1's great is the Lord. The bridge returns to the title with "it doesn't matter what may come my way" and "I'm holding on to You." At about 539 characters, the lyric is short, and the song depends on that repeated declaration.
