You Are God
Song Meaning
PlanetShakers build the verses entirely out of reversals: "where there is sickness, there will be healing, where there is bondage, there will be freedom, where there is sorrow, there will be laughter." Each line names a present problem before promising its opposite.
"For the old has passed away, and this is a brand new day" turns those reversals from wishful thinking into a stated fact, setting up the declarative chorus: "You are God, You are so glorious, You are so powerful... You are victorious, You are the One Jesus."
Isaiah's picture of a servant wounded so others could be healed sits behind the opening list of reversals, and "we call upon the Name that saves" echoes the New Testament's insistence that salvation comes through no other name. The second verse widens the list further — blindness to vision, lacking to provision — before returning to the same call-and-response chorus that names exactly who's doing the reversing.
Where there is sickness, there will be healing
Where there is bondage, there will be freedom
Where there is sorrow, there will be laughter
Where there is darkness, Your light will shine bright
For the old has passed away
And this is a brand new day
You are God, You are God
You are so glorious, You are so powerful
You are God, You are God
You are victorious, You are the One Jesus
Where there is blindness, there will be vision
Where there is lacking, thereʼll be provision
Where there is hurting, there will be healing
Where there is downfall, there will be victory
We call upon Your Name Lord
The Name above all names
We call upon the Name that saves
