Head In The Fight

Wasted time is the worry that opens "Head In The Fight." Sanctus Real sing, "I don't want to waste my life, I don't want to waste my time. You only have a little bit, and before you know it's gone in the blink of an eye." The singer decides not to compare himself with others: "I don't care who's doing what they do, I'm gonna do what's right."

The chorus gives the plan: "You gotta keep your head in the fight, you can't give up in the hardest times, can't let your spirit die. You've gotta keep love in your heart, a prayer on your tongue." The idea of fighting on is the one in 1 Timothy 6:12, to fight the good fight of faith, and keeping a prayer ready recalls 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

The second part makes clear what the fight is about. "Fight for the Kingdom come, fight for the ones you love," it says, echoing the prayer in Matthew 6:10, and then "when you feel weak, fight on your knees, 'cause that's where your strength comes from," a thought near Ephesians 6:18. The bridge asks "who's gonna stay in the fight, who's gonna stand for what's right," and the chorus returns.
