Sarah Kroger and Matt Maher open by naming the Trinity directly — "praise to the Father and the Son, and with the Spirit, they are one" — then immediately turn from doctrine to need: "O Savior, come and make a home with stubborn hearts of sin and stone." The song's real subject isn't abstract unity but a particular kind of welcome.

The chorus leans on 2 Corinthians 5:21's exchange — "you became our transgressions to give a kiss of peace" — recasting the cross as a reconciliation scene rather than only a legal one, with "a kiss of peace" echoing the father's embrace of the returning son in Luke 15:20. "Lifted high upon the cross, you dare to dream" keeps that hope specific: not vague restoration but a stated intention.

By the bridge, "undivided... reunited... there is no height, no depth, there's nothing else" turns Paul's language in Romans 8:38-39 into a direct address, closing on the title phrase as something the singer is still becoming, not something already finished: "so that we could be an unbroken family."
