Song Meaning
Selah's “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power” is a brief song with a clear claim. It begins at the cross, “the blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary,” and goes on to say it is also “the blood that gives me strength from day to day.” The refrain, “it will never lose its power,” answers the question of whether something that happened long ago still matters now.
The second part uses geography to show its reach. The blood “reaches to the highest mountain and it flows to the lowest valley,” so no height or depth is out of range. It then turns from distance to comfort, with the promise that it “soothes my doubts and calms my fears and it dries all my tears.” The claim is repeated at the end, “it will never lose, it will never lose its power.” The lyric stays simple because the idea has been sung in churches for generations and does not need much dressing.
The cost of redemption is 1 Peter 1:19, the precious blood of Christ. Cleansing the conscience is Hebrews 9:14, and robes washed in the blood of the Lamb are Revelation 7:14.

Way back on Calvary
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power.
It reaches to the highest mountain
And it flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power.
It soothes my doubts and calms my fears
And it dries all my tears
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power.
It reaches to the highest mountain
And it flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power.
It reaches to the highest mountain
And it flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose
It will never lose
It will never lose its power
