Worthy is the Lamb

Song Meaning

One line carries nearly all of "Worthy Is the Lamb": "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain." It is sung three times in a row, then answered with a personal note, "for me (for me)," and the plain statement "He gave it all." The repetition works like a congregation reading a verse aloud until it sinks in.

The chorus keeps that line and adds "Hallelujah" for a king forever, for praise given to God, and for a King and Savior. The mood moves from quiet gratitude to open celebration while the claim stays the same: the one who was slain is the one who reigns.

The wording comes straight from the heavenly worship scene in Revelation 5:12, where the Lamb is worthy to receive power and honor. John 1:29 and 1 Peter 1:18-19 supply the background, naming Jesus as the Lamb whose blood redeems, which gives the personal "for me" its weight.
