TobyMac and Jamie Grace build this one entirely out of music metaphors, but the one line that breaks the metaphor open is easy to miss on a first listen — 'Lord, you flip my words and change the tempo' names exactly who the whole love-song language has been aimed at from the start. Everything before and after that line could read as romance; that one address makes the actual subject explicit without needing to restate it.
'You sing to me and my heart comes to life, beating for You every time' reaches toward Zephaniah 3:17's image of God rejoicing 'over you with singing' — not a distant deity being sung to, but one described here as singing first. 'Like a lyric to my favorite song, you stick with me all day long' keeps the song's whole argument at the level of constancy rather than intensity; the claim isn't that this feeling is overwhelming, it's that it doesn't leave, the way a song stuck in your head doesn't ask permission to stay there.
