In The Cross / Worthy Is The Lamb / Crown Him With Many Crowns (Medley)

Travis Cottrell threads together three separate hymn traditions here — Fanny Crosby's 'In the Cross,' a contemporary 'Worthy Is the Lamb' refrain, and Matthew Bridges's 1851 'Crown Him with Many Crowns' — and the medley works because all three are making variations on the same claim from different centuries. 'Thank You for the nail-pierced hands, washed me in Your cleansing flow' updates Crosby's Victorian language into something more direct, but the underlying gratitude is identical to hers.

'Worthy is the Lamb, seated on the throne... you reign victorious' lifts Revelation 5:12's declaration — 'worthy is the Lamb... to receive the power, wealth, wisdom' — almost word for word, and the older Bridges hymn answers it with its own version of the same scene: 'hark, how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own.' Revelation 5:13's picture of every created thing joining the same declaration sits behind stacking three hymns from three different eras into one continuous piece — the medley itself performs the idea that this praise isn't limited to one generation's way of singing it.
