Victory Worship adds a repeated couplet between Isaac Watts's original verses — 'to us a child is born, let all the world find joy in Him' — pulling Isaiah 9:6's prophecy, 'to us a child is born, to us a son is given,' directly into the carol's structure rather than leaving it as background reference. That insertion turns Watts's more general triumphant declarations into something anchored specifically back to the nativity each time it recurs.

'While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains repeat the sounding joy' reaches for the same cosmic scale as Psalm 96:11's call for 'the heavens' to 'be glad' and 'the earth' to 'rejoice' — creation itself responding to an announcement rather than only human voices doing the celebrating. The hymn's insistence on that scale, non-human nature joining in the joy, keeps this arrangement from shrinking a genuinely enormous claim down to something merely sentimental.
