What Can Separate

Vineyard Worship builds "What Can Separate" on the question at the end of Romans 8, and the lyrics answer it line by line. The first verse is relational before it is doctrinal: "You walk with me, you've never left my side," followed by "You call me back, I trust you with my life." Then comes the inventory of what cannot cut that bond: "Not my sin, not my past, not my failure" can keep the singer from the power of God's love.

The chorus widens the list from personal shame to cosmic opposition. "No height or depth, no earthly consequence" and no power of hell can stand against that love. A turn to time follows, "Not today, yesterday, or my future," before the singer settles into "Unashamed, nothing left to hide." The closing line, "You are mine and I am Yours," frames security as belonging rather than performance.

Sung in a congregation, it serves as an assurance song for anyone carrying guilt from the past or fear of what is ahead, since both receive the same promise.
