We Are Messengers build this one around a title that only makes sense once the wordplay lands — "You're my ghost" is really "You're my Holy Ghost," an older name for the Spirit, stripped down to something that sounds unsettling until the lyrics explain it. "I feel You closer in the dark" turns a word usually associated with fear into something comforting instead.

The second verse names the change directly: "I'd been held under a spell, but I'm not that dead man walking, You resurrect the wreckage of my past." Whatever used to define the singer gets described as already dead, replaced rather than repaired.

Paul's declaration that anyone in Christ is a new creation, the old having passed away, and his own claim to no longer live but to have Christ living in him, sit directly behind the bridge's confident "my flesh is just a memory, and You alone remain." The repeated hook isn't spooky by the time the song ends — it's the whole point, a presence that outlasts everything else being described as gone.
