Saviour

We Are Messengers' “Saviour” is a Christmas song that lingers on the name. It opens with the repeated word and the paradox of “a Child and yet a King, Lord of everything.” Emmanuel has come with hope for everyone, the singers say, and they call him their own Saviour.

The verses describe the contrast between the world and what happens in Bethlehem. In the darkness, they see the light of the world, and in the chaos, peace is coming to the earth. The second verse names the mystery of the Son of God and the Son of man, with dawn breaking through the skies of Bethlehem and earth meeting heaven as one baby cries.
