A Bênção (The Blessing)

Aline Barros offers a direct, almost unadorned musical setting of the priestly blessing from Numbers 6 — 'que o Senhor te abençoe e faça brilhar seu rosto em ti' ('may the Lord bless you and make his face shine on you') follows Numbers 6:24-25 closely enough that the translation barely counts as adaptation. The song doesn't add commentary or a personal testimony layer around the ancient text; it simply repeats the blessing until it settles, the same approach the original priestly formula itself was designed for.

The second section widens the blessing across time — 'que a bênção se derrame até mil gerações' ('may the blessing pour out for a thousand generations') — before the closing section makes the blessing's reach unusually intimate: 'por detrás, por diante, do teu lado e em ti... de noite e de dia... em teu riso, em teu choro' ('behind you, ahead of you, beside you and in you... night and day... in your laughter, in your tears'). That list refuses to let the blessing apply only to good days; it names both laughter and tears as places the same presence is claimed to reach.
