Atitude

Enough stumbling is the first thing Aline Barros says in this Portuguese prayer: "Chega de tropeços, quero direção" ("enough of stumbling, I want direction"). She asks for God's word "seja sim ou não," a clear answer either way, and for an attitude that "define um cristão," not for the world but for God's kingdom.

The middle of the song names what gets in the way. "Nele há caminhos que parecem ser direitos" means there are roads that look straight, which is the point of Proverbs 14:12, and the answer given is that "Teus pensamentos são mais altos e perfeitos," following Isaiah 55:9. The requests that surround this are plain: "abre os meus ouvidos" and "toma minha mente, guia o meu coração."

The closing lines are about focus. "Seja, Senhor, o centro do meu viver, o foco não quero perder" is followed by "preciso ser fiel até o fim pra coroa receber," which is close to Revelation 2:10. The final image is of the "avenidas do mal" that try to distract, and the response is to center her eyes on God, as Hebrews 12:2 urges.
