Do It Again

Anthony Evans sings “Do It Again,” a song of trust that begins with a person walking around walls that he thought would have fallen by now. He is waiting for change and knows the battle is won, and each time his refrain is that God has never failed him yet.

The chorus says God's promise still stands and quotes the hymn line great is your faithfulness. It adds that the singer is still in God's hands and that his confidence is that God has never failed. In the second verse he says he knows the night will not last and that God's word will come to pass, so his heart will sing again. He says Jesus is still enough and asks to be kept within his love. The bridge moves from waiting to remembering. He has seen God move the mountains and make a way where there was no way, and he believes he will see him do it again. The echo of the walls in the opening image brings to mind Jericho, a story in which waiting and marching looked foolish before the wall came down. Evans' vocals build slowly through the track, and the repeated line gives a congregation something to lean on. It suits seasons of waiting for an answer, such as illness, a job search or a family situation that has not changed.
