Lord I Give / How Great
Song Meaning
Anthony Evans opens this mashup with an unusually plain statement of intent: "this is my desire: to honor You," followed immediately by a full-surrender line rather than a slow build toward one — "Lord I give You my heart, I give You my soul, I live for You alone."
The transition into "How Great Is Our God" isn't announced, it just happens, shifting from personal surrender to public declaration in the space of a few lines: "sing with me, how great is our God, and all will see." What started as one voice's private offering becomes an invitation for everyone listening to join.
Paul's call to present the body as a living sacrifice, and the psalmist's declaration that the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, both sit behind the two songs' pairing here. The closing line, "name above all names, You are worthy of all praise," echoes Paul's own hymn about the name above every name — the same claim, whether it's whispered as personal devotion or sung out loud as public worship.
This is my desire: to honor You.
Lord with all my heart I worship You.
All I have within me, I give You praise.
All that I adore is in You.
Lord I give You my heart,
I give You my soul, I live for You alone.
Every breath that I take,
Every moment I'm awake, Lord have Your way in me.
How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
And all will see
How great, How great
Is our God
Name above all names
You are Worthy of all praise
And My heart will sing how great
Is our God
Is our God
