Love Is

Anthony Evans admits failure before describing love's actual shape in "Love Is" — "I said I loved you, but I protected, and I kept myself from you, I saw your hurting eyes still I decided to walk away keep myself safe" — naming self-protection as the opposite of the love just claimed.

"I apologize 'cause I've realized" turns the confession into the hinge of the whole song, and the chorus defines its title in plain, repeated clauses — "love is willing to get hurt, love gives needing no return, when love lives it needs no words."

The second verse answers the first from the other side — "you said you loved me, so you came and you gave it all for me, you could have changed your mind still you decided to walk that road knowing it would lead you to your end" — describing a love that didn't protect itself the way the singer's own love had. "And I lived" states the result in two words, without elaboration. "It can be uncertain but still it moves because it's worth it" closes the bridge admitting real love carries genuine risk, and the returning chorus, now repeated with extra emphasis, lets the definition stand as the song's entire, unadorned conclusion.
