THE MIND

Scripture is read here rather than paraphrased. Colton Dixon's "THE MIND" is under 100 words of lyrics, nearly all of it Paul's own: "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind," from Romans 12:2, followed by the instruction to "set your minds on things above" from Colossians 3:2.

The middle of the song lists what the mind should dwell on, "whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure," taken from Philippians 4:8, then returns to the Romans verse and ends with the word "mind" repeated. With so few lines the track works as a short sung meditation on one idea, that renewal starts with what you let your thoughts rest on.
