I Made It

Da' T.R.U.T.H. raps “I Made It” as a testimony of survival. The hook says that after being knocked down he got up again, stronger and able to face the wind, and that he made it through the night to a brand new day only by God's grace.

The first verse says people watched him crash and burn and left him to die, yet he is alive and stronger than before because he knows God has him. He says he fell and needed help, and that God pulled him up onto higher ground. The second verse goes back to his childhood, where he was labeled a black sheep in both sides of his family and sent into temporary adoption. He says he is grateful his mother did not abort him, and that God showed him it was all part of a plan. The last verse recalls praying about whether he was qualified while filling out applications for a nine to five, and says mercy and goodness stayed with him like an entourage. He writes the song so he will never forget that he got up again. The verses are specific and personal, which gives the chorus weight. It is a good fit for anyone who has felt rejected or counted out, and for a youth group that needs a testimony that does not tidy up the hard parts.
