Crawl Away

Disciple's "Crawl Away" opens in the dark: a candle burns by the bed, sleep refuses to come, and the images behind the singer's eyes don't match the light he claims is inside him. A deceiver whispers his name and tries to climb up beside him, and the only answer is a plea for the Lord to stay — "don't leave me alone tonight." The bridge reframes the fight entirely, insisting that the one who lives in the believer is greater than the one in the world, and that the battle belongs to the Lord rather than to the person struggling. That shift gives the chorus its authority: the taunting accuser is told to crawl away, even as the singer admits he is far from a righteous man. Forgiveness answers accusation, and the wanderer's land is where he lives. Later verses turn the attack inside out — every attempt to make him fall only deepens his faith, and dropping to his knees exposes what he can't hide. The closing lines press the victory further, describing the enemy stripped of life and keys, made subject to the Lamb.
