Easter Bunny

Disciple opens with something closer to stand-up comedy than a hymn — "guess I'm filled with the Christmas spirit, celebrate a jolly man in red... Santa Clause is dead!" It's a deliberately blunt setup, using the absurdity of a mascot holiday to build toward a much more serious point about what actually happened at Easter.

The second verse repeats the joke's structure on the Easter Bunny, but the punchline sharpens: "what the heck do a bunch of colored eggs have to do with the Son of God being raised back to life?" That question is really 1 Corinthians 15:20's claim in plain language — Christ's resurrection isn't a springtime theme, it's the specific historical event Luke 24:6's empty tomb points to.

The closing lines drop the satire entirely: "Christmas is when I celebrate Jesus' birth, Easter's when I celebrate Jesus' resurrection, Jesus is alive!" After two verses of jokes at costumed mascots' expense, that plain declaration — closer to Luke 2:11's "born this day... a Savior" — lands with more weight for the setup, not less.
