God Be Praised

"God Be Praised" follows Christ downward before it lifts to praise. Verse one begins with the exchange of a throne for a rescue: "You left Your throne for our salvation," and the second verse presses the humiliation further, with God "covered in flesh, in all of our weakness," despised, embarrassed, and lonely, until "through Your shame we came alive."

The chorus answers with a shout, "Forever we will shout Your name," naming the same Jesus as "Lord over all" and "Risen King." A third verse shifts from what He endured to who believers become: brought "out of the dark, and into Your likeness," called by name as sons and daughters, "bought with a price." The bridge then repeats one sentence structure over and over, each line starting with "Because": because I'm alive, free, loved, and Yours, the response is to give a life, bow, love, and hold a worth that is secure.

The thread from incarnation to ransom echoes Philippians 2:6-8, the shame-to-glory movement of Hebrews 12:2, and Paul's reminder that believers were "bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:20). Elevation Worship recorded it live.
