Great Things (Worth It All)

Gratitude arrives in an unusual place here: the wilderness. The first verse thanks God for the dry stretch "where I learned to thirst for Your presence," then asks a pointed question: "If I'd never known that place, how could I have known You are better?" Loneliness gets the same treatment, with the silence cast as the room where other voices fade and the call of Jesus becomes audible.

The second verse moves from landscape to the body, thanking God for "the scars I bear" because they declare a healer, and for weakness because it exposes His strength. Every hard season in the song is reread as an occasion for learning who God is, which is why the chorus can say "it's worth it all just to know You more" without sounding naive about the cost.

The bridge gathers the story into a confession: "Through the fire and the flood You have never let me go," and "I am weak, You are strong." The closing refrains return to "You've done great things," with the soul singing the verdict. Paul's claim that power is perfected in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9) sits close to the surface, as does his willingness to count everything loss for the sake of knowing Christ (Philippians 3:8) and the promise of God's presence through water and fire (Isaiah 43:2).
