Only Love
Song Meaning
A generation "crying out for hope" sets the scene in the first verse, and the song answers with one claim repeated through the chorus: only love, because "Your love in us has power to change the world." The pre-chorus adds a call to action, "People of God rise," with the kingdom at hand and walls "crashing down," so the urgency feels shared rather than private.
Verse two moves from hope to surrender. Open hands and lives given to the Lord become the setting for seeing glory and for hearts awakening, with the power coming from God and not from effort. The chorus pairs "The darkness is shaking" with "Your light is breaking," a plain contrast that keeps the mood confident instead of anxious.
The bridge turns inward before closing outward. It asks to "see through Your eyes" and lay pride at God's feet, then states belief that love has come to save the world. Romans 5:5 on love poured into the heart, Jesus' words in John 13:35 about love marking his followers, and Matthew 5:16 on letting light shine before others follow that same movement from love received to love shown.
[Verse 1:]
We're not too far gone
Our generation
Is crying out for hope
This moment is ours
We are running
Your heart is calling us
[Pre-Chorus:]
People of God rise
The kingdom's at hand
These walls are crashing down
[Chorus:]
Only love
Your love in us has power to change the world
The darkness is shaking
Only You
Can raise us up to bring hope to the world
Your light is breaking
Your love in us is how we change the world
[Verse 2:]
Take all that we are
Our hands are open
Our lives are for You, Lord
We’ll see Your glory
As hearts awaken
Release Your power in us
[Bridge:]
Let us see through Your eyes and
Lay at Your feet
All our pride and say
We believe love has come to
Save the world
