I take my time to set the stage, make sure everything is all in place." The staging metaphor keeps the effort of appearing fine visible rather than hidden.

"I'm incomplete and I'm undone, but I suppose like everyone, there's so much more that's going on behind the scenes" widens the admission from a private confession to a shared human condition, and "sometimes I can't see anything through the dark surrounding me" keeps the difficulty specific rather than vague.

"When it's hard to find hope in the unseen, I have peace in knowing it will find me" closes the song without resolving the earlier uncertainty about solid ground — the peace described is about being found, not about having already found the answer.
