Francesca Battistelli refuses to romanticize the thing she's singing about — "love's not a feeling, love's not convenient," she insists before the song is even a minute old. She lists the actual cost plainly: sacrifice, tears, pride stolen rather than protected.

Her chorus doesn't resolve the tension by making love sound easier — it just adds the other half of the sentence: "love's not easy, but it's worth it." Battistelli's bridge gets specific about who needs that kind of love most — someone with "nothing but your fear and your doubt to hold to," desperate for someone to "save your life."

Jesus defines the greatest possible love in John 15:13 as laying down one's life for a friend, and Paul's description of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 lists patience and endurance right alongside anything easier to romanticize. Battistelli's repeated title treats cost and worth as inseparable — not a love despite the difficulty, but one whose difficulty is part of what makes it real.
