My Tribute Medley
Song Meaning
Gratitude is the question that opens this medley: "How can I say thanks for the things You have done for me? Things so undeserved, yet You gave to prove Your love for me." The first section is the old "My Tribute," and it argues that "the voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude."
The chorus moves to the heart of the song, "To God be the glory for the things He has done," and gives two reasons: "with His blood He has saved me, with His power He has raised me." Those two lines follow Revelation 5:9 on a people ransomed by blood and Ephesians 1:19 on God's power at work in believers. Psalm 115:1, "not to us but to Your name be the glory," sits behind the title idea.
The prayer in the middle asks "let it be pleasing, Lord, to Thee, and if I gain any praise, let it go to Calvary." The medley then turns to a second song, "How great is our God, sing with me, how great is our God, and all will see," in the spirit of Psalm 48:1. The lyric is brief, with a repeated chorus and the added section running to the end.
How can I say thanks for the things
You have done for me
Things so undeserved yet You gave
To prove Your love for me
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude
All that I am and ever hope to be
I owe it all to Thee
To God be the glory, to God be the glory
To God be the glory for the things He has done
He has done
With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory for the things He has done
Just let me live my life and
Let it be pleasing LORD to Thee
And if I gain any praise let it go to Calvary
With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory for the things He has done
How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see
How great is our God
