I Surrender All

Jordan Smith sings the hymn's two verses, "All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give," and "make me Savior wholly Thine, let me feel Thy Holy Spirit," then adds a bridge of his own. The first verse promises love, trust and a life lived "in His presence daily," in the spirit of Mark 12:30, and the second asks for the Spirit to confirm "that You are mine."

The chorus is only "I surrender all," repeated with the addition "all to Thee, my blessed Savior." Where the hymn simply repeats the surrender, the added section makes it concrete. "Everything I am is Yours," the singer says, and then comes a run of "It's Yours... you can have it all."

The final lines apply the offer to the whole person: "every single part of me is Yours, Jesus." The language of giving up everything echoes Romans 12:1's living sacrifice, Luke 9:23's call to deny yourself and follow, and Galatians 2:20's confession that Christ lives in me.
