Tremble (Song Session)

Jordan Smith's “Tremble (Song Session)” is a stripped-down version of the worship song about the power of Jesus' name. It begins with a prayer for calm: “Peace, bring it all to peace. The storm surrounding me, let it break at Your name.” The next lines ask him to call the sea to be still and to quiet the rage inside the singer.

The chorus names the one who can do it. “Jesus, Jesus, You make the darkness tremble. Jesus, Jesus, You silence fear.” The repeated name does the work of the song, and the melody gives it room to build. The second verse changes the picture from storm to breath, asking him to call dry bones to live and lungs to sing so that the singer can praise again. The closing section describes the name of Jesus as a light that the shadows cannot deny and a name that cannot be overcome. It is alive and lifted high forever. The session version uses a sparse arrangement that lets the voice and lyric come forward, which suits a quiet time with a heavy heart. For anyone dealing with anxiety or a season of grief, the song offers words for asking Christ to speak into what feels out of control, and it ends in confident praise instead of a plea.

Jesus calming the sea is Mark 4:39. Dry bones receiving breath is Ezekiel 37:5, and every knee bowing at his name is Philippians 2:10.
