2nd Win

Kierra Sheard's “2nd Win” is an encouragement song aimed at someone who feels their life is coming apart. The opening speaks straight to that person: it may look like everything is falling apart, but God is already working it out, and there is strength inside them because they were born to win.

The verses name the hurt without hiding it. Eyes are red from crying, the pain feels overwhelming, and other voices are trying to own the listener's mind. The answer is that if God did it before, he can do it again, so the listener should keep the faith. The chorus turns the setback into a coming comeback, urging them not to quit because a second win is on the way. The ad-libs lean on familiar church language, saying they will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of the testimony, and asking who can stand against them if God is for them. The final line calls God bigger than any mountain. The sound is upbeat gospel with a strong call-and-response feel, so it suits a Sunday morning, a workout, or a hard week when someone needs a push to keep going.

Overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony is Revelation 12:11. God being for us is Romans 8:31, and strength to keep going is Philippians 4:13.
