My Redeemer
Song Meaning
Kierra Sheard builds this one around a single ancient claim rather than a modern testimony: "I know, my redeemer liveth, heard Job when he said." The confidence being sung isn't hers first — it's borrowed directly from the oldest book in the Bible, credited by name.
The bridge folds in language from an entirely different source without announcing the shift: "dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come, to a place that's brought me safe thus far, and its grace gonna lead me on" — John Newton's "Amazing Grace" text, repurposed here as testimony rather than confession.
Job's own declaration in the middle of unimaginable loss, "I know that my redeemer lives," gives the song its title and its central confidence, and Isaiah's promise that those who wait on the Lord "shall mount up with wings like eagles" answers the exhaustion built into both borrowed texts. The repeated call-and-response — "Job picked it up, Job picked it up" — treats an ancient sufferer's declaration as something still worth passing down, one generation at a time.
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Job picked it up
Job picked it up
Job, job, job
Job picked it up
Dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
To a place
Thats brought me safe thus far
And its inner grace gonna lead me on yall
Isiah the prophet
Said they that wait
And the lord he shall
Renew their strength
They shall mount up with wings, like an eagle
They shall run and not get weary
They shall walk and not faint
Job picked it up
Job picked it up
Job, job, job
Job picked it up
Dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
To a place
Thats brought me safe thus far
And its inner grace gonna lead me on yall
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
I know, my redeemer liveth
Heard Job when he said
Yea, yea, yea, yea
Yea, yea, yea, yea
