Praise Offering

Kierra Sheard's “Praise Offering” frames worship as a gift brought to God. It opens with the posture: “with outstretched hands and with a sincere heart, I come to You with thanks and worship for who You are.” The second verse widens the offering to include “words never spoken and melodies of songs never heard,” along with “showers of anointing and blessings we don't deserve.”

Between the verses is a section built on Lamentations 3. “It's of Your mercies we are not consumed, and Your compassions fail us not,” with the responses “it's Your unmerited favor” and “they are new every morning,” and it flows into “Great is Thy faithfulness.” The chorus asks the Lord to “hear these lips of worship” and uses the threefold “Holy, holy, holy.” The vamp is a short statement of debt and gratitude: “It belongs to You, I owe to You my everything, my gratitude and thanks to You for saving me.”

The mercy and faithfulness section comes from Lamentations 3:22-23. The idea of praise as an offering matches Hebrews 13:15, the sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that give thanks to his name.
