Praise Break (Gimme Some Room So I Can Thank Him)

Kurt Carr's “Praise Break (Gimme Some Room So I Can Thank Him)” is a live gospel moment more than a typical song. Two worship leaders open with “I will bless Him!” and a shout of “Hallelujah,” and one says, “I feel a shout in the room.” The choir then settles into a repeated line, “We cannot be silent,” sung again and again as the congregation builds energy.

The leader speaks between the sung parts and asks, “Anybody in here grateful?” People are told to turn to the person next to them and say, “I've been through too much this year to be quiet. I won't be silent. I gotta give God praise!” A later line says, “Nobody's gotta praise for me in silence, you gotta give it out.” The track ends with the request in the title, “Gimme some room so I can thank Him,” over an instrumental while the audience claps. It reflects a tradition in Black church worship in which a service pauses so that people can respond to God out loud.
