The End And The Beginning

Matt Maher leads with a theological term in "The End And The Beginning" before any image softens it — "transubstantiation, Heaven kisses earth, we become a living tabernacle" — naming the doctrine directly rather than approaching it through metaphor first.

"So wisdom, be attentive, steady my shaken mind, let this be my reality, more than just bread and wine" admits the difficulty of belief honestly, asking for steadiness rather than claiming to already possess it. The chorus's paradox states its own title plainly — "this is the end and the beginning, this is the eighth day of creation, one with the saints and angels, in our song of thanksgiving" — treating a single moment as both conclusion and origin at once.

"History shows the love of the ancient Father for His one and only Son" widens the scope from the immediate moment to all of recorded history, and "Jesus, I am not worthy... but only say the word and I shall be healed again" borrows the centurion's own words from the Gospels almost exactly. "Holy is the Lamb" repeats twice as the bridge's entire content, refusing to expand a moment of worship into further explanation before the chorus returns one final time.
